The Transformation
This complete home renovation in Valley Ridge, Calgary NW transformed a dated interior into a bright, modern and highly functional family home. LBProjects completed an extensive renovation across both the main and upper floors, including a full kitchen renovation, new powder room, custom laundry room, redesigned living spaces, two renovated upstairs bathrooms, new interior doors, flooring upgrades and a complete interior repaint. The existing hardwood was refreshed to complement the updated design, while new carpet brought warmth and comfort to the upper floor. One of the home’s defining architectural features—the curved staircase—was retained and refreshed with newly stained handrails and updated finishes. The result is a cohesive whole-home renovation that combines warm natural wood, contemporary cabinetry, clean neutral finishes and darker architectural accents to give the home an entirely new identity without losing its original character.
Design Vision
The goal of this Valley Ridge home renovation was to modernize the property while preserving some of the warmth and architectural character already present in the home. The original interior relied heavily on oak finishes, warm beige walls and traditional cabinetry. Our approach introduced a lighter neutral colour palette combined with natural wood tones, deep blue cabinetry and matte black architectural details. Existing features worth retaining—including portions of the hardwood flooring and the curved staircase—were carefully incorporated into the new design rather than unnecessarily replaced. The finished home feels contemporary and custom while remaining comfortable and practical for everyday family living.

Full-Gut Kitchen Renovation
The original oak kitchen was completely transformed with custom cabinetry, an oversized island, quartz surfaces, modern lighting and dramatically improved storage.
Curved Staircase Refresh
The existing curved staircase was preserved while the handrail was refinished with a new stain, helping integrate one of the home’s most distinctive architectural features into the new design.
New Primary Ensuite
The primary ensuite was transformed with a new double vanity, quartz countertops, contemporary black fixtures, freestanding bathtub and a large tiled walk-in shower.
